The Origins of Rome: The Eternal City

RECENT PRESENTATIONS:

As one of the world’s greatest cities, Rome personifies the history of man’s endeavors to create a timeless reality. From her ancient imperial ruins to her modern day vitality as a great world capital, Rome is the manifestation of inspired endurance.

In Rome, every corner of the city speaks for architectural and historical continuity. The long ancient era, gloriously rediscovered in the Renaissance, serves as a founding element of Western cultural identity.

From Bath, England to Arles, France and from Istanbul, Turkey to Alexandria, Egypt, the Romans created an immense Empire. Throughout the centuries, Rome, the city of great will power and destiny, has sustained her quest for Eternity.

In Part 1 of this two-part lecture, Dr. Giuliana Castellani Koch will illustrate the historical evidence and epic literature of the origins of Rome. Part 2 will offer an overview of the enduring reality of the City of the Caesars through the milestones of Roman history and their reverberations on Western culture and beyond.
